Welcome to Virginia
Military Re-Sources©
a surf friendly site.
VaMR©
is here to serve the Soldier, Sailor, Marine or Airman. In its simple present
form, it provides links to other sites of various interest. It is targeted to
soldiers of every recent era. It caters to the soldiers family, whether it is a
spouse, mother, father, sister or brother. It is for the citizen of this country
who wants to learn more about the military.
Information mostly
revolves around the Commonwealth of Virginia and it's wonderful natural beauty
and it's progressive attitude. Virginia has a rich military dating back to the
time when the seekers of a new world landed on a peninsula off the James River
and called it Jamestowne. As a native Virginian it is my desire to seek out the
heritage of this great nation that is rooted in this great territory. During my
pursuit it is my desire to share with you.
The other end I'm
trying to achieve is assist in the effort to tame this thing called the internet
in an area that I am familiar with. This site is borne out of having a need to
access the wealth of information found on the internet in one local for a
specialized subject. The bulk of detail information is found on the page I call
"The Motor Pool",
the page that started it all. I traveled the road working with Army
maintenance facilities during the time when information was just appearing on
the internet. I never could find a collective spot for the this wealth of
information, so I started my own called the "First Shirt". Later, when
I returned to Virginia for the last time, I wanted to continue sharing this
information and put it together and cater it to those stationed in Virginia. Of
course there is no doors on the internet so all who surf can take advantage of
the information, but it will continue to be called Virginia's Military
Re-Sources. To that end, I have attempted to list all the sites and information
found within the boundaries of Virginia and Washington, D.C. (you couldn't have
one without the other when it comes to the military) Our headquarters of our
great military is in Alexandria in the worlds largest office building called the
Pentagon.
Another thing I
would like to convey is this strictly a hobby, so far. I continue with the site
(to include rebuilding it after a disastrous change over from one hosting
provider to another) because of you the user. Every time I decide to pull the
plug, I get an email or too commending the effort or looking for information so
I press on for you.
I am in no way nor
is this site connected directly to the U.S. Government in providing source of
information for the user. All sites are of public use or used through the
internet by authorized users. (See Disclaimer)
I personally do not
want to provide you with too many sites that you don't know where to start. I
try to find sites that have good information and links to other sites that would
be of interest. The other level I wish to achieve is information for the
enlisted soldier, sailor, marine or airman, from E-1 to E-9 to help do their job
better. In the future, I will tailor information more in the area of training,
and leadership. If you know of other sites that are trying to achieve such
goals, I wish to join efforts to provide the best information anywhere on the
internet.
What VaMR©
isn't is a site to download a lot of cool graphics or links to sites of other
sites that link to other sites. (if you understand that then you know what I'm
talking about) My efforts are to put resources at your fingertips that you use,
often. If you know of other sites that are trying to achieve such goals, I wish
to join efforts to provide the best information anywhere on the internet.
Surf Safe
