From the Chaplain:
Greetings Countrymen, !
Does "God and
Country" mean anything to you? I know it does. When you made the decision
to serve in the Armed Forces of these great United States, the thought of having
to give your life one day in conflict crossed your mind. Knowing one day you
would have to face judgment has crossed your mind many times. That has been a
common thread from the day that company of men and women landed at Jamestown.
Giving honor to the Almighty God was a requirement. Through crisis and times of
despair this country has always acknowledged God as our foundation and the
individuals soul found Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. These are
undeniable truths that has stood the test of time. Complacency has taken hold in
these last few decades with questions of what causes are there left to fight
for. There's a song that says if you won't stand for something that you'll fall
for anything. In American it seems that we are going that way. If we don't stand
for the rights of the Citizens of this Nation, we'll fall for the ones who in
their imagination feel they have a stand in tearing her down. I am proud to have
grown up in a family that respected their fellow countrymen and understood who
they were. Trusting in God, and giving thanks to the Almighty for the blessing
He has given us. Decency was a watchword. Courteous to ladies and respecting
clergy. Today, I hear women streaming profanity and talking filth that was use
to be left to the smut magazines that the bad kids dad had. Children out of
control because parents don't take the responsibility to raising them to do
right and be good decent, law-biding citizens. We are not standing for what made
this Nation great, we are giving in to the easy road and that is the true
terrorist that hunts today. Our citizens no longer seek a moral compass of
"doing the right thing" but has given in to "doing my
thing". Growing up, I recall that the road to Church was empty except for
those who where going to Church themselves. Today, it's a traffic jam when going
to Church behind the boats, campers and sports cars of people enjoying there
freedom instead of offering thanks to the One who has given us this freedom. It
was always a rewarding time to look forward and getting "a" cookie out
of the cookie jar. It meant we had done well and was deserving of the bounty. We
knew doing the "right" thing and being good had it's reward. Because
God taught us that in His Bible and mom taught us the Bible that is what we live
by. Our country has changed and says that Mom was unfair to even put the lid on
the cookie jar and that we should get our reward whether we've done right or
not. This may seem like babbling to some, but I hope you understand my point. If
we kick out the foundation of our Nation through our courts, who are we fighting
for? I love this great nation because of what the great men who trusted in God
knew that in this journey they began could not go nowhere unless God was at the
helm. I have drawn this conclusion, if we continue to take God out of this
Nations foundational institutions we will fall. Our nation was built that all
men might be free, and it has stood the test because God was our Guide. Selfish
and self-centered people do not want to acknowledge God and that is what will
take us down if we let them, if you let them, if I let them. These people are
needing to be set free from their bondage of frustration that selfishness leads
to and pushes them farther away. Jesus Christ is the only fix that will put us
back together right. God created us and loved us even though we disobey Him.
"For God so Loved the World that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16. Having everlasting life means we will live with Him forever, and not
perish in Hell which is prepared for Satan and his angels. I like that
"whosoever" part because nobody is excluded. If you are alive, you are
a "WHOSOEVER", all you have to do is BELIEVE. I pray
that you will come to know the Peace in your heart as I have in mine. If you
want to know more go here. I pray that
you will lay down the burdens of this life that are ever changing and trust in
God who never changes.
