| Welcome to Southeast of
Virginia, the beginning of it all. I have begun the daunting task of redoing VIRGINIA's
MILITARY Re-Sources©,
please take the time and send me a comment on how to improve.
The Southeast area of Virginia holds many unique
wonders. The Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay contains a way of life
unmatched anywhere else. Tangier Island takes you back twenty years, isolated
from the main land and only accessible by boat or small plane people. The Bay is
the largest estuary in the United States with over 8000 miles of shore line is a
natural wonder of beauty of itself. The counties surrounding the water
tributaries of the Chesapeake hold a way of life all their own. Visit the
counties links on the right to find out all the things to do in the area and
other information.
Since the year of 1607 Virginia has been home to
the military that help make this nation great. From the little triangular shaped
fort off the James River built by the first colonist, to the largest naval base
of the free world, Virginia has been a been a vital part of our nations defense.
Not only does the all branches of our defense forces calls Virginia home,
southeastern Virginia is home to NASA's Langley Research facility and Military
Traffic Management Command.
Take a trip up the colonial route (State Route 31
and 5) from Jamestown to Williamsburg and on to Richmond to see the great
Colonial Plantations where great men who brought birth to this great nation
trod. Enjoy fishing, camping, hiking and watch the sun rise over the Chesapeake
Bay year round.
So come on down get familiar with Hampton Roads,
Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, the Chesapeake Bay and the James River and
enjoy the time of your life.
